Frosted Hollywood Truck Stop

We've had the dream of a cupcake truck since our opening in 2006, but dreams are often put off by reality...luckily for us, reality was moving up on to 2nd street and then opening a second store in Hollywood.

Since we can't be one of them, we've decided to join in on the fun and let them park in our lot! We started the Frosted Truck Stop with a bang. The Grilled Cheese Truck stopped in our lot late January, and despite the rain, we had a fantastic turn out.
We're hoping to have weekly stops at our Hollywood location. Tomorrow, February 18th, Frysmith will be stopping in our lot from 12-3pm. Keep up with us on twitter, frostedtweets, for upcoming Truck Stops.

Where do we start...so many things to fill you in on. A new store and our Monthly Mini Social!

We've been busy building out our new Frosted location in Hollywood! Here's an early photo of what our new home used to look like...

We'll have even more to share later this week. It's an exciting time for our Frosted family. It was this time last year that we moved into our 2nd street location and now only one year later, we're opening another shop!! It truly is a dream come true for us and largely due to the fantastic team we work with every day. We'll be opening our doors at 1200 n. highland avenue sometime next week. We'll keep you posted.

As avid art fans, we are ecstatic about our participation in THE art event of the month, maybe year. Juxtapoz Magazine is celebrating their 15th Anniversary with an art auction called "The Big Payback" benefiting the Powerhouse Project of Detroit. Here's some information on the event, provided by charitybuzz.com:

WHY: Proceeds from “The Big Payback” auction will support the goal of purchasing five homes and employing local Detroit contractors, electricians, plumbers, and carpenters to perform the renovations. Selected artists will also be invited to participate in the remodeling. The event aims to raise the consciousness of both the problems of people disenfranchised by the nation’s economic crisis, as well as encourage a sense of community in the art world and inspire people to effect positive social change in their own communities.

WHO: Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine celebrates its 15th anniversary with “The Big Payback,” an online charity art auction and a special event in Los Angeles hosted by Upper Playground. The event benefits the non-profit Power House Project of Detroit.

Last Thursday we had the privilege of participating in and attending a launch party for Joy's stationary collection, of Oh Joy!, for Chronicle Books. The event was at the most adorable and inspiring stationary store in Venice, CA, Urbanic.
We provided a myriad of mini cupcake flavors, including personal favorites of Joy herself. It was a champagne and cupcake social. What a perfect duo to celebrate with.
We've already told you what big fans we are of Joy's design blog and food blog, so we won't bore you with more gushy admiration, but there were a few more people at the the event that we need to tell you about. The enjoyment didn't stop at the food and drinks, Photobooth Love provided a photobooth lined with an Oh Joy! wallpapered background. Such a cute idea for an event keepsake. The lovely floral arrangements were courtesy of JL Designs. We were so happy to be in such great company. Check out more photos from the event here.

We are often blessed with meeting really fantastic couples planning fabulously unique wedding receptions. One couple in particular was such a treat to work with, we're still talking about how cute the display of cupcakes turned out. And today we found out we aren't the only ones who think so! We love it when couples take the time to include their personality in their presentation. Andrea and Robert carried out their color theme from the tier to the top of the cupcakes and the end result is adorable. We LOVED working with them and wish them the very best.

Frosted Cupcakery in Long Beach

This weekend my friend from Philly happened to be in Long Beach visiting her old roommate, so I thought I'd join them for a girl's weekend of drinking, debauchery, and of course massive guilt-free sugar consumption. After a lovely evening in which we were the absolute role models to young ladies everywhere, we grabbed some lunch in Belmont Shore and decided we deserved a hard-earned sweet fix. Luckily, Frosted Cupcakery was just across the street, and came recommended by our Long Beach resident friend.

I know that right now the big fads are "fro-yo" and cupcakes (of the two weddings I have attended this year, both have had cupcakes in place of a cake) so I was interested to see just what made these cupcakes so special. They had a nice selection of about 15 different varieties out, and I can assure you that every single one looked amazing. I was torn between a few, but ultimately settled on the Cookies n' Cream cupcake.

One (of many) thing(s) that I truly enjoyed about this cupcake was their masterful application of frosting. Here in America we are trained to think bigger is better, and more more more is preferred! It's sickening to see a stale, shabby looking cupcake with a mountain of frosting to try and disguise its poor exterior and bland flavor by relying on a never-ending swirl of mediocre sugar piled on top. This cupcake was moist and obviously had homemade icing gracing the top in a perfect amount of sweet goodness to fill the mouth.

Other selections were the Chocolate/Peanut Butter Buttercream and Red Velvet/Cream Cheese cupcakes, and since I have the best, most generous friends ever, I got to sample both in the name of food blogging. All of them were equally moist, fresh, light and still filling without having to depend on cheap sugar rush or artificial flavors to satisfy my sweet tooth.

On a nerdy design note, their interior designer and product designers are to be commended for their bang-up jobs making the interior feel modern and cozy, with matching packaging that really captures the spirit of whimsy that their branding just screams. Be sure to check out their blog as well for more eye-catching stuff!

Jess Pollard didn't have to think twice about her selection. The Orange/Cream Cheese cupcake she held in her hands disappeared in less time than is appropriate. I can't judge, I was the first to finish, even with my sneaked bites!

All in all, I completely get the cupcake fad. I can only hope it's here to stay!

Monthly Mini Social, Pass it On!

We are quickly approaching summer's end, I know I know, we are all hating the thought! It's only a matter of time before the back to school campaigns flood our television sets and radio stations. In order to curb the end of summer blues, our August Flavor of the Month is going to keep you in the summer spirit! It's the return of Pineapple Coconut! This time we've made it even better, with a pineapple coconut cake and pineapple coconut cream cheese frosting. We're pretty sure it's going to be a fast favorite. But just to hedge our bets, we've decided to start a new monthly event...

This Saturday, August 1st, will be the debut of our Monthly Mini Social! From 12-3pm, while supplies last, we'll be handing out FREE MINIS of our new Flavor of the Month (one per customer, of course).

We'll be continuing this Social every month, on the first of the month, for a 3 hour period. We'll keep you updated every month through our website, this blog, facebook and twitter so make sure you are checking in with us regularly and subscribe to FrostedTweets at www.twitter.com.

We hope to see you this Saturday at our 2nd Street location. Since this is our very first Social, we may run out. Come early if you want to get a taste of a flavor that has already earned a fan base just by the shear mention of it's return!

The Sweetest of Treats

We had the pleasure of meeting a fantastic couple this past Spring. The soon to be Harris' had a wonderful vision for their wedding reception and we were lucky enough to be included in their picture perfect event! Our mini cupcakes were in great company with the lemon, yellow candy variety they offered at their dessert bar. They even offered a little to-go bag for those late night sweet treat cravings! Some Like it Hot!

We're starting July off with a bang with the return of our Red Hot Cinnamon Buttercream on our Royal White cake. It's a personal favorite of mine, so I'm always excited for it's comeback. It would definitely be a great addition to your 4th of July BBQ. It's only going to be here for a short time, so make sure you get in to try this unique flavor before next week.
But that's not all, we've dressed our vanilla and chocolate buttercreams in their patriotic best. Red, White and Blue decorations will be in our case through the 4th of July. Stop in to pick up a dozen for your Independence Day festivities or call ahead and have an order ready for you.
We'll be closing at 5pm on Saturday, the 4th, in order to allow our staff to celebrate this holiday with their friends and family!

The Pink Elephant in the Room

We've purchased new and improved ovens that will help us keep up with our growing special order business and our ever increasing walk-in traffic. Tiers for Cheers

A special part of getting your cupcakes from Frosted Cupcakery is that we offer serving tiers for you to display our cupcakes on. Our customers are often asking what they look like, so here they are.

The two different styles below are our most commonly ordered tiers. The $12 tier holds up to 2 dozen cupcakes and can be trimmed in up to 3 different colored ribbon. The $20 tier holds 3-4 dozen cupcakes and can be trimmed in up to 5 different colored ribbon. We make these tiers custom to match the theme of your event. We have ribbon swatches available to choose from and the tiers are made of a corrugated cardboard so they are yours to toss after use or reuse as often as you'd like....which we're hoping you'll do since they are durable enough for a couple party rounds. Please allow us 48 hours when placing your order and we do have a minimum purchase of cupcakes per tier. There is a 1 dozen minimum cupcake order for the $12 tier and a 2 dozen minimum cupcake order for the $20.

We have larger tiers to accommodate even bigger special orders, you can see our largest tier and one of our rental tiers here. If that weren't enough, we're getting new styles in later this week for orders of 5 dozen or more so we'll keep you posted!

Girlfriends and Cupcakes!

We're hosting a fundraiser this Saturday, April 18th, in honor of Girlfriends, a mentor group for teen girls. Kristi Heicki, the founder of Girlfriends, started this organization 2 years ago and has been making a huge difference in the lives of Long Beach's teen girls ever since. We're thrilled to be helping them raise money for their annual Girlfriends Conference and Girlfriends Summer Camp. Join us in supporting a non-profit group that is dedicated to providing positive female role models and mentors to introduce our teenage girls to new and exciting adventures.

Here's what we're doing to help! We'll be selling our very popular summer flavor of the month, Strawberry Lemonade, this Saturday. All of the proceeds from this cupcake's sales will go to Girlfriends. We introduced this cupcake last summer, a lemon cake with strawberry cream cheese frosting, and our customers have been asking for it's return ever since. This felt like the perfect occasion to offer a sneak peak! We'll definitely be offering it again this summer, so if you are a fan, this is just a taste of what's to come!

Kristi Heicki will also be stopping by for the event. She'll be at Frosted from 3-5pm with a table full of Girlfriends goodies! If you have a daugther, sister, neice, cousin or girlfriend between the ages of 11-15 years old, please consider coming by to learn more about Girlfriends.

A couple weeks ago...yes, I know I've been a little behind, I promise we'll catch you up...Frosted celebrated the opening of a wedding and special events showroom called A Wedding Store. We can't recommend Linda's services enough. We've worked with her on a few weddings in the last couple years and we're excited to be a part of her new showcase. She's created a one-stop shop for those brides and grooms-to-be looking for highly recommended vendors from photographers to wedding favors (we've got some great favor offerings, we'll share with you soon)! She's Peachy!

Remember scratch and sniff stickers? If you are like me, you scratched those stickers until all the sniff was gone. Well, our friend Gamie from Peach Mailbox makes the most adorable scented cupcake cards that will surely bring back those fragrant memories! We've been selling her cards for almost a year now and every season she comes up with the most delightful designs. Her attention to detail and design aesthetic fits right in at Frosted and we couldn't be happier to spread the word of her amazing talents.

We've just come up with a brand new flavor, perfect for the month of love!

Our flavor of the month for February is a Cherry Chocolate Chip cake, frosted with a Cherry Chocolate Buttercream, scattered with chocolate sprinkles and topped with a cherry chocolate. Since it's debut on Sunday, it has sold out every day. Come try it soon, with a short month, it's sure to be headed for early retirement. Oh and a milk is almost a must with this rich and creamy flavor!

Chocolate Lovers Wanted! DATE CHANGE!!

We've just been notified that the date of the Chocolate Festival has been changed, due to rain. Booooo! But it has been postponed to Saturday, February 21st, from 1-4pm.
We can't believe the annual 2nd Street Chocolate Festival is here again! This is our favorite Belmont Shore event. Like the last few years, we'll be selling our red velvet cream cheese and chocolate chocolate buttercream mini cupcakes for 1 ticket.
Please bring your friends and family down to 2nd Street this weekend to enjoy all that the Belmont Shore shops have to offer, in the chocolate dept. The event is from 1-4pm this Saturday, the 7th of February. What a way to kick off Valentine's week!

Whether you are looking for the perfect gift for your sweetheart or you want to cheer up a single friend on the holiday he/she hates the most, cupcakes make everyone smile. We are really gearing up for our biggest holiday of the year. We've printed brand new tees for our staff and for you to purchase, in honor of Valentine's Day but really appropriate year round. Who said giving Valentine's to your friends, classmates or coworkers was for kids? Not us! We've made a really fun way to give a Valentine this year...Valentine buttons! With 6 different messages (like "you're the cupcake of my eye" and "cupcakes and kisses") and 20 buttons in a jar, there's plenty to go around. We've been looking for a use for all the baby food jars we've accumulated throughout these past few years of making pupcakes and it turns out they are a perfect button holder! So we've filled our jars to the brim with Frosted Valentine Buttons at a price of $8 a jar. We hope you'll love sharing them as much as we love making them! They are also available NOW!
And that's just the beginning of all the fun stuff we have planned for Valentine's Day. Don't forget to place your orders early, we have a special order counter now that will make your pick up so much easier this year. We had a line out the door for the entire day last year and we hope to beat that record this year! We'll be serving Valentine decorated cupcakes all week starting Tuesday the 10th of February. We'll have a full case of heart sprinkles and heart chocolates adorning all our cupcakes Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th, with a limited menu of the following flavors:

I've mentioned our super cute gift cards before, so just in case you needed any more reason to purchase one, here's what it looks like. And for the last two days of Christmas shopping, Tuesday and Wednesday ONLY, we are going to give you a free cupcake with any purchase of a gift card valued at $20 or more.

If you'd still prefer to give the real thing, I just want to remind you that you can place an order ahead of time; let us know it's a gift and we'll put a ribbon around your box. We even have window boxes, for an additional $1, for gifts of 1, 4 and 12 cupcakes. Our brown boxes present well with a ribbon too, and that's no additional fee. What's the worst part about last minute shopping? The crowds, right?! Unfortunatley, we don't have any tips to help with that....but something that might help those Christmas shopping blues is free parking on 2nd street this weekend. Verizon Fios has paid for all the meters on 2nd for the entire weekend. You might have to circle a bit, but if you can get yourself into a meter down here, you won't have to pay all day. If you're anything like us, you still have plenty of shopping to do and now you can head down to the shore quarterless! And while you are down here, don't forget to stop in for any last minute gifts. We have the cutest gift cards and you know your friends, co-workers, family members, teachers and classmates would love a box of cupcakes. We have perfectly present-ed packaging! Come on in or call ahead, 562-987-1080, to place an order so your boxes are ready when you arrive.

Flying Cupcakes

Have you seen our cupcake mural yet?! We've been wanting to put cupcake art on our walls for a long time, our old store was just too small to accommodate it. Now that we're in our new space, we knew we had to do something big. So we started thinking about who we would want to paint in our store, when we came across a post on our friends' blog called whateves.com (P.S. it's super random and only rarely offensive). Our friend Erin is a graphic artist and a painter; we like his stuff a lot so we asked if he'd be interested in designing a cupcake mural for us. He was into the idea so he made some time for us right away, and geez did it take time. Erin worked nights after we closed for about 4 or 5 days, he even pulled an all nighter (18 hours straight, with only an ice cream cupcake and carrot cupcake to sustain him). We documented the progress so you could all see how much work goes into painting such an awesome mural!

We're so happy with the newest edition to our 2nd street location and we hope you will enjoy admiring it and even take some photos of your friends eating our cupcakes in front of it! We're very excited to support a Long Beach writer, Kimi Fate. She's written a fantastic book with her sister, Megan, as the star. Megan's journey, in this edition of the Megan Hearts series, is very close to our hearts.

We're going to be closed on Thanksgiving so we can all celebrate the holiday with our loved ones. However, we will be open tomorrow, Wednesday November 26th, until 9pm. That's plenty of time to pick up some cupcakes for your festive family gatherings. We'll be decorating some of our cupcakes with sprinkles in the shape of fall leaves, our pumpkin is topped with a yummy pumpkin flavored and shaped chocolate and our red velvet is topped with chocolates in the shape of a green leaves and brown acorns. In addition, our banana nut chocolate and carrot cream cheese would complete a great Thanksgiving assortment.

We're getting even closer to opening! It looks like tomorrow is the day. We have one last inspection tomorrow morning, but if all goes well, we'll have cupcakes in our case again by lunch time.

Our Frosted Team can't wait to get back to what we're good at. And we hope you will all be out to see our new store soon. If we haven't mentioned yet, our hours are now extended! We're open Tuesday through Sunday from 11am-9pm and just a block away from the best Belmont Shore restaurants...La Creperie, Bono's, La Strada and Lucille's. See you soon!

Okay, so we aren't going to be opening this weekend. We are all so disappointed! We had delays with the city inspectors and now it's looking like opening day will possibly, most likely, pretty surely be Wednesday, November 19th.

This time, it might be good to keep your toes crossed too....but it's looking pretty good for the middle of next week.

You May Have Noticed...

We are closed on Claremont Avenue. Saturday was moving day and we cleared out. We'll miss you Claremont, but we'll never forget where we started.
It was a big job and nothing was more challenging than moving our prized possession...our cupcake case! It took 10 guys, big muscles and a lot of patience, but we got the delicate display to it's new domicile.
In the weeks leading up to our move, it felt as if the walls in our old kitchen were slowly moving in on us. As we unloaded, all of our stuff felt dwarfed in our new kitchen. We're all so excited to fill this, much needed, space!
Our big day couldn't have been accomplished without the help of our friends and family. Thank you so much Phil, Kali, Maureen, Kyle, Chris, Karleen, Adam, Tommy, Dom, Megan, Rookie, Brooke, Lindsay and Robby! You guys mean the world to us. We'll never be able to thank you enough for all your constant love and support.
We also want to thank our fantastic Frosted team. Jacqueline, Jessica, Kelsey, Chelsea, Emily, Carolyn, Marianne, Apple, Tyler and Zach...you gals and guy make the cupcake business so sweet. We couldn't have made it this far without you and we look forward to many more years of success with you at our sides.

We can't wait to show our community our new space and hope you will all be patient with our progress. We're pushing to open by Friday, November 14th....but promise to keep you posted!

Whopper of a Flavor

Another month, another flavor! This time we brought back a favorite, Chocolate Malted Buttercream on our Royal White Cake. We top this creamy cupcake with a Whopper candy and a drizzling of chocolate sprinkles.

It's the perfect treat for the last month of summer. It's a close second to a chocolate malted milk shake on a warm afternoon.

When we started this blog, we promised profiles of our fantastic staff. We're ready to pay up! We thought we'd start from the beginning; Kelsey's been with us the longest and we couldn't be happier to show you what she's all about.1. How long have you worked at Frosted?
- 2 crazy years July 1st!
2. What do you do at Frosted?
- Well, my main deal at Frosted is the frosting and tons of it! Aside from my skills with the spatula, I also frequent the front counter.
3. How long did it take you to learn how to frost, the Frosted way?
- Not gonna lie, I was a natural… Haha, I’m a pretty quick study so it only took me about a week or so.
4. What is the best thing about working at Frosted?
- I think the best thing about working at Frosted is being around our amazing staff and customers. We have so many awesome customers, and a super fun staff, so it’s tons of fun to be there. There’s never a dull moment at Frosted!
5. What is your favorite thing to do at Frosted?
- My favorite thing is being involved in the creative process at Frosted. Whether I’m making tiers, melting chocolate molds, or tinting frosting to match every color in the spectrum, I have a great time doing it.
6. What is your least favorite thing to do at Frosted?
- Hmm… I think my least favorite thing to do at Frosted is… probably taking out the trash! I really can’t complain about my daily duties at Frosted, frosting cupcakes sure beats another job anyday!
7. What is your favorite Frosted memory?
- My favorite Frosted memory is the Claremont Street Fair we held recently. It was a really fun day, we had tons of activities and people.
8. What is the funniest thing that has happened to you at Frosted?
- That’s a toughie, I’ve had plenty of funny times at Frosted but a standout was the Chocolate Festival of 2007… we were in a total bind, jamming to get the mini Chocolate/Chocolate cupcakes out for the people when all of a sudden…. I knocked all of the chocolate sprinkles onto the ground! We had so many people in the kitchen because we were so busy, and every single one of them stopped and looked. It was like a scene from a movie! At that moment we just kept moving, and thought back on it and laughed.
9. What question do you get asked the most?
- “Do you have red velvet???”
10. What do you like to do when you aren’t at Frosted?
- When I’m not at Frosted, I enjoy painting and drawing! I love spending time with my best friends, and just having as much fun as possible!
11. Where do you/will you/did you go to college?
- I’m currently majoring in Art at CSULB…go Beach!
12. What do you want to be when you grow up?
- I’d totally love to be a happy, successful artist.
13. What is your favorite cupcake?
- My favorite cupcake is the Royal White/ Chocolate.
14. What is it about that cupcake you like so much?
- It’s definitely the perfect combination of delicious chocolate buttercream and our Royal White cake! So good! Simplicity at its finest.

ModernGear Food: Cup your cake

I've been a journalist for 14 years now, in one form (radio, television, print, web) or another, and after all this time, I will tell you my simple secret to a good story: research.

Though it's a seemingly simple step, the actual task can be tough - trying to find out enough about a topic so that I can speak to it from some base of knowledge while under time constraints is difficult.

But, I haven't been reporting the news on television for a few years now, and so my days of researching subjects like punctuated equilibrium* are over. Since then, I've discovered that sometimes prep for a story can actually be a pretty sweet gig.

Like this blog post, for example. I'd just heard about a product called the Cup-A-Cake, and getting to the bottom of it was going to require some serious field research.

In case you can't quite make out where I was headed, it's the Frosted Cupcakery in Long Beach.

I had it all planned out - I was going to go in, buy myself a cupcake and a Cup-A-Cake cupcake protector ($2.99 at Cupacake.com), and see if my cupcake made it home unscathed.

The Cup-A-Cake was designed and patented by moms with that whole 'having your cake and eating it too' thing in mind...so that they could send cupcakes with icing on top with their kids, without them (the cupcakes, not the kids) getting squished. Necessity is the MOTHER of invention, dontcha know?

So that's how the story was supposed to work, but then...I was waylaid by the daily special...

... and the Frosted Cupcakery vixen asked me, "Would you like that for here or to go? How about some milk?" and I was a goner.

What? It's called research, people.

But listen, I had a good, long look at the Cup-A-Cake and I can see that it works like a tiny bodyguard, protecting your precious cargo. Unfortunately, first I'd have to get the cargo into the actual case in order to test it and today that just wasn't happening. Guess I'll have to go back tomorrow!

We've always thought our individual gift boxes would make the perfect wedding favor...and now we have proof!

Last October, we had the honor of making cupcakes for a fantastic couple that envisioned a super stylish set up for their wedding reception. Romance Etc, a beautiful flower and gift shop in Belmont Shore, designed the floral treatment and provided the sculptural tower. We assembled, filled, sealed and tied the bows on each of the gift boxes.

For Frosted's ice cream cupcakes!! Just published today, in the District's Best of Food and Drink issue.

We are so excited to offer the very first ice cream cupcake, topped with our signature swirl. This is a dream come true for ice cream cake lovers, present company included! We've put a new spin on it and made it available in a single serving size. It's twice the size of our regular cupcake, so it's large enough to share with your best pal at the beach or on a picnic with your sweetheart but definitely yummy enough to devour yourself. We're serving them up straight from the freezer so they travel well too. About 2o minutes out of the icebox and you've got the perfect summer treat. We plan to have a variety of flavors, starting with mint-chip chocolate chocolate buttercream (shown above).

We owe this month's flavor of the month to one of our favorite customers, Lori! She suggested trying a Mexican chocolate so we got to work coming up with a recipe. We're a week into May and it's already getting rave reviews. We're happy to present our Mexican chocolate buttercream on a royal white cake topped with chocolate curls. It's a creamy chocolate flavor infused with a taste of ground cinnamon. We hope you'll be in soon to try it before the calendar turns another page!

Whistlin' Dixie

If you didn't make it to the Claremont Street Fair, you missed out! But you're in luck, thanks to our devoted documenter Jessica McCarty, we have lots of photos that will make you feel like part of the scene. The weather couldn't have been better, the sites and sounds were reminiscent of Main Street USA and the food & beverages were top notch.

Before we get to the goods, I want to thank our fantastic Frosted crew! Inside, Jacqueline, as always, provided service with a smile to the line of people eager to get their gift with purchase while Kelsey, Chelsea and Jessica kept the cupcakes comin' with their expert frosting techniques and Zach worked his box building magic. Outside, Carolyn showed us all her wonderful artistic abilities painting cupcakes on the young and young at heart and Emily kept the event rolling along with her cool and composed coordination. We had some help from our friends and family too, thank you so much to Rookie, Robby, Lindsay, Kali and Phil for being part of our team on this special day. Our Frosted friends and staff made this event successful and we are so lucky to have them!!

The face painting was a huge hit! As our newest employee, Carolyn has delighted us in the kitchen with her quick study of our ever challenging frosting technique but we were even more amazed at her artistic talent.
It's always a special treat when we sell our mini cupcakes, being that they are only offered for special orders. Kali and Lindsay were the perky faces behind the minis tray. They served up some of our most popular flavors: royal white/vanilla, royal white/chocolate, chocolate/vanilla, chocolate/chocolate and chocolate/mint chip.

The highlight of our event was the Frosted totes we screen printed on site. Rookie and Robby manned the silk screens and Phil was the hand off. We'll take any excuse to work with these guys, they are the best! The totes were offered as a gift with the purchase of 4 full size cupcakes and they were a crowd pleaser. We can't wait to start seeing our customers carrying the cupcake tote around town, it's perfect for groceries and even school books ;)

You'd think that screen printed totes, face painting and mini cupcakes were enough, but that's not how we do it. We like to give you every opportunity to fully immerse yourself in our Frosted fantasy so we painted a photo op! The design was sketched by one of our favorite artists Parker Jacobs; click here, here and here to see what he does best. And we're proud to say, he likes us too, check out our myspace comments! Our most favorite Robby pretty much painted the whole thing, can't thank him enough! Here's a familiar face showing us how it's done...And finally, here's the gal of the day, Emily! She was our eyes and ears out on the street. She was a fantastic coordinator. Here she is helping with the raffle! It's A Grind, Belmont Bliss, Belmont Grill and Frosted Cupcakery all donated items to the raffle. Emily and Katie, from It's A Grind, announced the winners every half hour.The Frosted Crew would like to thank everyone who came and had a great time with their friends and family! We all had a wonderful day and we hope you'll be back for the cupcakes! Here's Nancy, my Mom and business partner, goofing around with Kelsey and Carolyn...it's not always all work and no play ;)

It's a nice day for a white wedding.

One of our favorite things at Frosted Cupcakery is doing cupcakes for special events. The platinum ring of special events is weddings. It's hard to believe we are entering our 3rd summer season. Not only does the summer bring warm, sunny days to the shore; it brings weekends after weekends of weddings!! Here's a couple picks from weddings we did earlier this month.

We have rental tiers that hold up to 10-12 dozen cupcakes. How would you ask a cupcake girl to prom?

It was a clever plan; cause a distraction by sending a friend in and when all her attention is focused at the front of the store, appear with the question. Maybe it was his sweet demeanor or the fact that he rummaged through our trash for something to write on (we're super into recycling), but we were hoping she'd say yes! Chris got a cupcake and a YES and now our favorite high school girl is going to prom.

It's the Time of the Season

If Summer is considered wedding season, showers are in the forecast for Spring...baby and bridal! With baby on the way, we're getting orders every day to celebrate the mom-to-be. This weekend was no different. Lots of baby blue tinted frosting and a touch of light pink, set the stage for our white and milk chocolate baby carriages, teddy bears and baby rattles. Not us! We love the idea of a single serving treat, but sometimes a regular sized cupcake is just too much when you're eye'ing a couple different desserts at your best friend's party. In celebration of our 2 year anniversary, our flavor of the month is dressed in it's birthday best! We chose a cupcake combination that is in high demand....chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting, topped with confetti sprinkles. It's no joke! This cupcake is a heavy hitter, it just may give that Red Velvet a run for it's money.
